Northside/Northpoint’s Dr. Durairaj – 1 of 20 Georgia OB-GYNs Certified by Menopause Society

Dr. Anissa Durairaj adds another honor to her name as a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP). She joins a list of only 20 physicians across Georgia with the new merit from The Menopause Society (formerly the North American Menopause society or NAMS), and adds a new specialization to an already long list demonstrating her advanced competencies in obstetrics and gynecology.

Already an American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology-certified OB-GYN, she further enriches her 20 years of experience with this new merit. With it, she seeks to bring more specialized care to their menopausal clients at Northside/Northpoint OB-GYN Specialists.

According to Dr. Anissa Durairaj, apart from a passion for learning, this certification “is a vital step towards providing care to women as they transition to midlife”

What are the unique advantages of this certification for patients?

In the medical world, there is a wide gap to fill in the care of women in the menopause phase and beyond. Acknowledging this, The Menopause society , with its MSCP program, seeks to enrich the practice of menopause care, and to develop the skills of medical practitioners in that regard.

For patients of certified doctors like Dr. Anissa Durairaj, this means the menopause care they receive is grounded on the most comprehensive and updated science. Specifically, she is eager to share with their clients innovative practices such as:

  • Acknowledging the wide range of symptoms that can present during the menopause transition
  • Explaining the safety data regarding menopausal hormone therapy
  • Validating the challenges faced during this time of transition
  • Sharing knowledge of non hormonal options

The goal is to continue adding value to the millions of women in the United States. Annually, about two million women in the country enter their menopausal year and experience its symptoms in varying degrees.

But as this number grows and even as the conversation around menopause heightens, the condition and its management still mystifies patients and experts alike.
